This episode will air Thursday, 19 November 2009 at 9/8pm central (The CW) and will be the last episode for 2009. Supernatural will resume season five on Thursday, 14 January 2010. Below is a behind-the-scenes photo of Misha filming the episode (thanks to @LilMissX for this).

“Abandon All Hope”

SAM AND DEAN FACE OFF AGAINST LUCIFER — Sam (Jared Padalecki), Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Castiel (Misha Collins) track down the Colt and head off to find Lucifer (guest star Mark Pelligreno) to send him back to Hell. It’s a hunters’ reunion when the crew joins forces with Bobby (Jim Beaver), Ellen (guest star Samantha Ferris) and Jo (guest star Alona Tal) for what could be their last night on Earth.

Phil Sgriccia directed the episode written by Ben Edlund (#510).

Misha: The pants have big pleats; the shirt is two sizes too big; and the whole thing makes me look like “Columbo.” But to answer your question, the outfit has not yet been burned, and Castiel is being put through the proverbial wringer now more than ever.

“Cas doesn’t know how he came back,” Misha Collins (Castiel) told us when we spoke earlier this week. “He has his suspicions. He thinks he knows how he came back, but he doesn’t have any proof of it. He’s trying to piece together how [it happened] and if it’s what he thinks it is, it’s quite amazing.”

When Misha Collins heard that Oprah Winfrey had shut down Michigan Avenue this week to tape her talk show, he was immediately struck by a similar storyline in his CW series “Supernatural.”

“As if this woman needed to feel that she had anymore power,” he told me during a phone interview as Winfrey greeted her audience outside RedEye’s windows on Tuesday. “I hope Oprah doesn’t crowd your city too much for too long. That could be kind of apocalyptic in and of itself.”

In 2008, Misha Collins joined the cast of the CW television series Supernatural as the character Castiel, an angel sent to Earth by God to release the series lead character Dean (Jensen Ackles) from Hell to fulfill a job. Now in its fifth season, the actor will continue to appear as a series regular, working with Dean and his brother Sam (Jared Padalecki) to stop the apocalypse.

During press interviews for the show, Misha Collins talked about getting to play a bad-ass angel, who is a little bit hindered in his abilities, now that he’s been fired from Heaven.
